Planned Olive Garden in Wesley Chapel Moves Forward as Gateway Plaza Construction Begins
Wesley Chapel residents who have been hoping for a closer Olive Garden now have reason to be excited: the planned location at 27391 Centerline Drive is moving forward in one of Florida’s fastest-growing communities. With Pasco County adding tens of thousands of new residents in recent years and Wesley Chapel experiencing strong population growth from new neighborhoods and families relocating to the area, this development addresses a long-standing local desire for more convenient casual dining options.
Site preparation has begun at the Gateway Plaza Retail Center at Wesley Chapel Blvd. (S.R. 54), Gateway Blvd., and Centerline Drive, with recent land clearing signaling progress on the plaza, where Olive Garden is expected to be one of the anchor restaurants.
Plans for the new Olive Garden were submitted in August 2025, according to Pasco County development records. Site plans show the planned location anchoring a small retail center that will also include another expected restaurant and a dental office.
This development comes as Darden Restaurants continues expanding the Olive Garden brand nationally. Local residents have long expressed interest in having an Olive Garden closer to home in Wesley Chapel.
The Gateway Retail Plaza Center will add convenient dining and service options to the area, helping meet growing demand. As new neighborhoods continue to expand nearby, the plaza is expected to provide easier access to everyday services and casual dining without requiring long drives to other parts of Tampa Bay. This type of retail development supports local convenience, creates additional gathering spots for families and friends, and contributes to the overall vibrancy of the community.
When it opens, Wesley Chapel families and diners will be able to enjoy Olive Garden’s signature unlimited breadsticks and a choice of soup or salad with most entrées, along with fan-favorite Italian-American dishes — all closer to home. Its relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere and generous portions have made Olive Garden a popular spot for casual dining, group gatherings, and takeout nationwide.
No specific timeline for completion has been announced, but one of the most anticipated dining additions in Wesley Chapel is on its way, bringing a local Olive Garden closer to home.
